Back from the dead

It has been a long while since I've watched Liverpool play any EPL matches. Normally whenever I watch their matches, it always seem that they will do badly. Anyway I decided to stop by a mamak last night and watch their game.

When I sat down, Liverpool conceded a goal to Manchester City. When my roti telur (dua keping) arrived, they let in another goal. At half time Liverpool were trailing Manchester City by 2 goals. So far it seems my theory of causing bad luck to my own team is holding true.

I thought of going home...but decided against it. In the second half, Liverpool fought back with all they've got and stole a win with Torres netting 2 goals and Kuyt scoring in injury time, thanks in part to a red card given to a Man City player.

Kuyt after scoring the winning goal in stoppage time.

For those of you with a weak heart, it is strongly advised that you do not become a Liverpool fan. Go for a 'safe' team...like Chelsea or Man Utd. However if you choose to be one, then never watch their matches. Liverpool always have the tendency to take their fans for an emotional rollercoaster. For example the Champions League final in Istanbul where they conceded 3 goals in the first half and then in a space of 6 minutes during the second half, equalised and then went on to win through penalties.

The season after that, in the FA Cup final against West Ham (I remember watching this at the Section 17 mamak in Petaling Jaya) where they went down by 2 goals intially. At the end of 90 mins they were still trailing 3-2 when they equalised through Steven Gerrard and then went on to win the FA Cup.

So will they be able to finally win the league this season? The answer is sadly no. Liverpool for all their courage and determination sometimes play football like they're in premenstrual mode. They were crap against Man City in the first half but brilliant in the second. Unless they can play consistently week in week out...don't even dream about it. I hope they prove me wrong though.

Ramadan with Prince Alwaleed bin-Talal

(All photographs by TIME photographer Franco Pagetti)

If you don't know who Prince Alwaleed is, check it out on wikipedia. He is currently worth an estimated USD$21 billion.
The Prince prepares to hold a feast to break fast for 350 Saudi men at his lavish Camp Rumah.
After the feast...the men line up. Guess why?

The guests will present the Prince with their requests for money and favor. Most of the guests will make their requests in writing...so the Prince won't forget i guess *grins*.

It is said that the Prince will grant every person at a least a portion of their request.

An aide gathers all the requests in a briefcase where they will be reviewed by his staff later. It is estimated that the Prince will spend USD$1.5 million after the requests are reviewed.
Anyone in Malaysia doing this? Heheh...

AirAsia Call Centre of Hell

SATURDAY, 06 Sep 2008
I got an sms saying that my return flight from Bali next year has been cancelled.

Just my return flight??? So I called up the number given in the sms and was kept waiting on the machines for a very long time. Someone suggested that maybe they didn't entertain calls during the weekend...that made sense. I'll try on Monday.

MONDAY, 08 SEP 2008

First thing in the morning, I called AirAsia again. Its bad enough that this is already a Monday morning...but listening to the machine telling me that they are sooooooooooo busy due to 'overwhelming response to our promotions' just leaves me almost foaming at my mouth. I had to hang up a few times to entertain my customers. I gave up calling in the late afternoon and resorted to sending them an email instead.

When I checked my email in the evening, they sent me the following reply:
For urgent queries and itinerary requests, please call our helpline at 603-8660 4388 or click on the following link for contact numbers of the Call Centre in your area.

Now, that's really rubbing salt in the wound.

TUESDAY, 09 SEP 2008
Filled with fighting spirit today (and a particularly good nights rest), I decided that I will not hang up but wait as long as it will take to get an answer from them.

11.13am - Machine ....
11.14am - A customer asked for a strip of Pepzan 20mg...Put the phone down for a second to serve him.
11.16am - Machine...
11.18am - A lady asked if I have Ethylchloride Spray... Put the phone down again.
11.20am - Decided to go to the toilet for a quick wee wee.
11.23am - Machine...
11.24am - Another customer asking for plaster...
11.27am - Lady: (Click) Good morning, AirAsia, How can I help you?
Me: Wahh..you know how long I've been waiting ar?
Lady: Er...yeah..
11.33am - Phone call ended.

I have received 4 calls on previous occasions from AirAsia telling me about their insurance packages, credit cards and what not...but when I really needed an answer from them, it takes forever to get through to one of them.

Anyway, my Bali trip next year has been cancelled. Anyone up for climbing Mt Kinabalu again? Heheh...

New Cure for Acne

I know that doesn't sound like an interesting title...but don't click away just yet. This will be an interesting post...trust me.

PHNOM PENH - A CONDOM lubricant designed for sex workers and gay men has become a popular acne cure among female Cambodians, women in the capital and local media said on Thursday.

(I told you its interesting...)

Number One Plus, a water-based lubricant produced by health organisation Population Services International (PSI), is an excellent cure for acne, 29-year-old vendor Tep Kemyoeurn told AFP.

'After I used it for three days, all of my acne dried up and went away,' she said. 'Many people believe in it,' she added.

Khen Vanny, 29, from Phnom Penh, told AFP that women of all ages have taken to using the lubricant to get rid of spots.

'It is very effective. Some people don't believe in it but people who do really get a good result,' she said, adding: 'My youngest sister and my aunt use it too.'

Another woman told Khmer-language Kampuchea Thmey newspaper that she had used many kinds of medicine to treat acne but none had worked.

'After that my friends, who work at garment factories in Phnom Penh, advised me to apply the lubricant from Number One Plus condoms on my face every night,' she told the paper.

'And just within three to four nights, the acne on my face gradually and then totally disappeared,' she added.

A vendor near a factory in the coastal city of Sihanoukville told the newspaper that she sold packets of Number One Plus lubricant for 500 riels (17 Singapore cents) to many women every day.

The paper urged experts to conduct research about the phenomenon.

PSI were not immediately available for comment on the apparent cosmetic benefits of their product. -- AFP -(LINK)

There's something I like to know...who was the first person that looked at the lubricant and said 'Hmm...lets put some on my face and see.' Er... wait..maybe I think I know how it got there...

Who is Vincent?

Recently when ironing my clothes, I noticed this.

Vincent????

Another Vincent

The last time I checked my IC, the name written there is still Ted. Now that I've discovered the 'Vincents,' I am a bit reluctant to wear it. It feels really weird wearing clothes with other people's names written on it.

Can't make this one out but doesn't look like Vincent

Are my clothes seeing someone else I should know about?
