Ahh... secret admirers. What comes to your mind when I say that? I'm sure for many people it will bring back many memories.
No? Don bruff lar...
For the girls, normally they will have to find out who sent the note, chocolates, etc...for the guys, its how to do it without sounding so er...lame.
Heck, I remember this girl when I was in Primary 4 (maybe 5 I'm not sure...but at least I remember its a girl alright!). We go to different schools but the same tuition centre. We would always sit next to each other everytime and our friendship was very innocent. As the days go by, I would look forward to the next tuition session just to sit next to her. Although it lasted for just 2 hours, at least I was happy. That's right, I was her admirer. I'm sure you all know this feeling.
Now what happens when it's not a secret anymore?
Day by day, it seems more people are pointing at us, whispering, giggling around us. Then as quickly as it had begun, it ended. We ended up sitting as far away as possible from each other to avoid the teasing by classmates. If we were to inadvertently bump into each other, we would exchange glances, then be on our way. Anyway, it was primary 4 (or 5) only mah...
So....
Today Ted's gonna reveal someone's secret admirer...heheheheheh. Have a look at what I found below.
What do you see? NOthing? Just Semi Value's website? Look again...

What's in a name?
Recently I've been getting back in touch with many people that I've not seen or had any communication with for up to 8 years. It is good news. After they go through my facebook details, they chance upon this blog. The conversation that follow is usually like this :-
Person A: Hey man! How're you doing? What are you working as now?
Me: Not too bad. Working as a pharmacist here in Sabah.
Person A: No way...I thought you were doing photography or something.
Well, I don't mind that at all. After all, nothing wrong being a photographer - its something that I like as well. Being a pharmacist is not so big a thing too - the long hours, facing nasty customers, etc.
I don't blame those people too. After coming to this blog the first thing that greets you will be the banner with all the camera lenses and bodies. Also I've not talked much about my working life as much as I've shared photos on this blog (as you can see on the top right hand corner under labels)...so its not something totally unexpected.
Somehow...I'm wondering if there's something I can do to make it to my advantage. Hmm...guess its time for

Facial Wash
Customer walks in to the pharmacy and hands me a note.
Customer: Hi! I'm looking for this brand of facial wash. Its for a friend.
Me: Ok (Opening the note...)
Even though the premise is air-conditioned, I couldn't help feeling a cold sweat break out all over as I saw what was written on the note. Well it says...

Unfair
Case 1
A chaffeur-driven man was let out in front of a pharmacy and he walks right in. With a gold Lolex on his wrist and clad in designer labels, he immediately makes an impression.
Man: Ooi! Got any gastric medicine? I wan Pah-wer one ok!
Pharmacist: Got...RM0.20 per tab. How many do you want?
Man: Huh...so expensive meh, normally I buy a lot one. How much 1 box?
Pharmacist: One box 100 tabs, so after discount RM18/box for you.
Man: I take 5 box you give me RM16/box. Normally I buy that price from the Ang Soon Sing Pharmacy across the street there...If you don't give me this price, then I'll go there.
Pharmacist: Ok. No problem.
Man walks out victorious, the pharmacist has made a RM5 profit from the transaction, but better than nothing he figures.
Case 2
A construction worker from a nearby construction site walks in...
CW: Hey boss...got Pah-Wer gastric med?
Pharmacist: Got. RM0.20/tab. Normally take two tab a day one...
CW: I only have RM0.20...never mind give me one tablet only lar. Belum dapat gaji.
Pharmacist: Hmm...ok (Considers giving a discount, but since he's only making a 5 cent profit...decides against it).

Dei! Dei! Ted is kambing to town...
Tomorrow is Deepavali and I'll be heading over to Miri/Brunei for the weekend... I've not had a nice relaxing trip since ...er... September. Lol... But then again, the September trip was to KL...and that was in no way relaxing. Anyway hope to meet up with all long lost Bruneian friends who I've not met for 8 years...if you're all still alive (touch wood, touch wood).

DeFORKmity
Since I did the Inferiority Complex shot earlier, I noticed that one of the fork was a bit bent. It gave me an idea for setting up this shoot. I was thinking of naming it 'What the FORK?' initially, but eventually decided for 'DeFORKmity.' I think that best explains what's going on in the pic.

Love - Part 2
After posting up the first picture I shot entitled LOVE, I was given a suggestion to try shooting it with two rings instead of one. Here's the result!
To all the wedding photographers, this will look good with two rings, the groom's and the bride's. I used a keychain ring here because I don't have a ring I can use for this shot. Me thinks it will even be better if you can set it up so that you can see the names engraved on the ring (if any)...

Love
This shot was not an original idea, but inspired from other similar shots that I've seen. Had to give it a try though...
The passage is from 1 Corinthians 13 where Paul talks about love. It contains the famous passage about love below:
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Lemon
I had an idea to shoot something like this quite a while back. From the conception of the idea to the final result seen here took a blardy long time. LOL. Maybe I'll write another post sometime later after I group together all the test shots I've taken and adjustments made till the final result.
As usual, here's the link to the setup shot on my Flickr(THE MAKING OF LEMON). Hope it inspires you all and please share your setup shots too yea. Hehhe, I'm a sucker for this kinda things.

Hmm...
On my last trip back to KL, I was given a book by my uncle. Head Strong by Tony Buzan.
This Tony Buzan is the Mind Map guy. He's written a lot on mental literacy and how to use our brains to positively affect ourselves. Seems he is a genius of sorts...the book itself is very interesting. ...soooo verrryy interesting especially when I read the sentence below.

Film
Ever since I've crossed over to a digital SLR, I've never touched my film SLRs. Looking through some of the shots that I took with a film last time, I find that these are sometimes more meaningful to me. I have no idea why...

Lion Dance
Last Friday I was informed that a very famous lion dance team would be performing at a mooncake festival celebration nearby. Apparently these guys from Inanam are so famous that they are always invited overseas to perform their thing. Of course I had to check it out...

Bena Arts Park???
I've been staying here in Kota Kinabalu for almost 6 months now and I must say I do enjoy the life here. Things here are different from KL/PJ. No kidding. When I drive around I do have time to look at my scenery and enjoy the view.
Yeah....that's when I noticed this.
Taman Seni Bena??? After consulting the sifu, Seni translates to Art in english and I'm pretty sure most of you will know that Taman means Park. So what about Bena? Hmm...the sifu has never heard of any BM meaning to the word and neither have I. However, the first thing that comes to my mind when I saw that sign was this...

Yea! Bena Expectorant for chesty coughs. Sorry about the blurry image, I got it off the XSP website and they only have a low res image. So that means Taman Seni Bena loosely translated to english would be...Bena Arts Park? The Art of Bena Park? Sounds like a very sick place to be no? A Taman filled with sick people with chesty coughs...Maybe the road was sponsored by the drug company itself?
In fact that's not a bad idea! Sometimes you know the roads in our Taman or vicinity is so poorly maintained you must wonder whether the Majlis Daerah has any $$$ or not (I'm sure they do lah)...but lets just say that they really are strapped for cash. Why not? I mean just rename the roads a bit, sign a contract... let the name of the road be chosen by the drug company.

MIFC: Team Global (Merdeka Day)
Ok as promised, here are the pics from Team Global. Having gained experienced from my virgin shots of fireworks the night before, I decided to 'apply' them. I got there late though and managed a couple of test shots from my locations.
Just in time.
Immediately after I shot this pic above, people were shouting 10, 9, 8.... So judging from the first shot I took during Team Japan's performance, it is too near. I quickly pulled back a bit and was rewarded for doing so in my next shot.
Just in time.
Overall, the performance was quite disappointing. I've heard people saying that its not worth going for Team Global's performance, but they do have the wind to their advantage compared to Team Japan. Probably because the performance was 7 mins long only too, so not much smoke generated.
