Playing with fire (Silhouettes)

Another edition from Ted Studio. This time no power cut...but nothing to do at home. Heheheh. All shot using light from the candle only and ISO 400.

Power cut

Its quite surprising that in such a 'developed' country like Malaysia we still have very frequent power cuts. Experienced it twice already since I've been here in Sabah. Oh well...good time to test high ISO shoots...

580 EX II Speedlite

Just got the 580 EX II external speedlite. It is supposed to be the improved version of its predecessor the 580EX.

It does look magnificent. So i had to put it to test in my studio.

This shot was taken without any flash.

This shot was taken with the built in flash. As you can see the lighting is very harsh on the subject (the bottles) and quite dark behind. This is often the results of Point and Shoot cameras where the user does not really have control of the flash and you have your subject very harshly lit and the background very dark.

This shot was taken with the flash bounced off the ceiling. As you can see it has a more natural feel to it. Actually the results may not be so obvious here but if you have human subjects then the difference will be significant.

More sunset

More sunset pics from Tanjung Aru Beach at Kota Kinabalu. I think these are better than the last ones that I took.

All in all, it took a grand total of 3 mins for the sun to go from the first pic to the last... I spent 3 days chasing the sun again as I always showed up too late. On the third day i finally got what i wanted.

Free Gift

Aunty walks into the shop, selects hair dye and proceeds to pay. After payment she

Me: Yes aunty? (Wondering why she hasn't left)

Aunty: My free gift leh?

Me: Free gift???

Aunty: Yea you see the box got free thing wan...

Me: ....??? (Celaka aunty...she really wan ammonia i can think of a way to give her)

Sunset

I've always said that KK has one of the most beautiful sunsets. You don't get this over in KL or PJ... Been raining a lot recently and it took me one week to wait for the right time to capture this.

After this was shot, it started raining heavily again. Got to learn to shoot rain...
