3 Bound Mice
Recently the rats weren't falling for the trap. Before this it always had a 100% success rate. So were the rats getting smarter? After 3 tries of failure, we re-evaluated the situation. Everything that we have set from Day 1 were all constant except for the food. So one of my staff suggested that the food was not enticing enough. That made sense...since the bait used for the trap has always been leftovers from my dinners. We've always used cha kuey teow before this but I've been on a bit of a healthy eating plan lately. The low fat tuna chunks probably weren't that inviting.
Having agreed on a new strategy, we tried again with toppings from a pizza and man did it work.
Heheh...I guess this makes up for the past 3 failures.

Hmm...looking at our political situation now, I guess we're too late. They're already in charge.

(Can't Get No) Satisfaction?
‘Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him – for this is his lot. Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work – this is a gift of God.’
I was listening to one of John Frusciante's (pic above) solo when the quote above (believed to be from the wise King Solomon) popped into my mind. Frusciante is a brilliant guitarist, well maybe not as elaborate in his techniques as Steve Vai or Joe Satriani, but the way he puts his soul and energy into his songs makes up for it. He's successful in his career, has made it big and probably living the good life - but is he happy? I probably will never know the answer to this unless I am Frusciante himself.
As for me, I’ve not made it big yet, am doing alright with my career and living a relatively simple life. Being a community pharmacist is at times very challenging and at times very boring and mundane but that’s something we all have to deal with. After 10 years of marriage to your spouse, will you tell him/her that it is so boring to see their face everyday? No, you deal with it! Look forward to new challenges and experiences together. However, being satisfied and happy with your work doesn’t mean having no ambitions or staying stagnant either.
I do not know if I will be working the same job 10 or even 5 years from now, but I want to learn to appreciate it. Every night when I lie down to sleep, I want to be able to say that I'm pleased with my work today.Monday, July 14, 2008
Hanky Panky
Proton better have a good answer for this. They sold MV Augusta for 1 Euro some time back and now Harley buys it for $109 million?

Belakang Mari
On Tuesday, I received a mail from LHDN (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri...or the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia) stating that I had a tax refund of RM140. How I happened to overpay I have no idea. I calculated my taxes properly on a hard copy of the form first before proceeding to the E-Filling and both figures are exactly the same. In E-Filling, you just pop in the numbers and they will calculate for you the balance you have to pay...if any.
It also said that a cheque will be sent within 14 days. Having heard from many people who have not received their tax refunds for many years, I didn't think my case will be any different. RM140, that's almost 2 tanks of petrol... (Gulps)
I was wrong! Last night I received another letter from LHDN with a cheque! Wow!
It was unbelievable... I will give credit where credit is due. I'm impressed. Maybe its because I did E-Filling and they were able to process it faster.
Hmm, maybe I should under-pay my taxes from now on? Save them the hassle of sending me all these letters. I'm a concerned citizen too you know...
